Well, what a fun time that was!
So lovely to see a constant stream of people popping into the Herbal Takeover throughout the day. There was a lovely buzz to the place as we pollinated the message about herbs and all the good things you can do with them.

Thank you so much to those who stopped by, especially those who took part in the Sense Station and helped us elucidate ‘Who Smells Best?’ – our findings are reported in full in the next blog!

The Herbal Takeover was a coming together of so many creative people, thanks to Kate and Alanah for welcoming all our visitors, to Viv and Laura for the workshops, to Sharon for such a colourful talk about herbal dyeing, to Claire for dreamy stitching, to Angela, Bex and Lisa for the fabulous creations on their stalls and to Sophie for the posy making and star-studded window display.

Sophie (aka Sophia Mason Flowers) took on the challenge of creating a stunning window display using just ‘purposeful plants’ – the herbs that can be used for medicine, skincare, cooking or dyeing. There were 25+ different plants in total, sourced locally and demonstrating some of the wealth of herbs we have accessible to us. The challenge was to name as many as possible – who would recognise the most herbs? Anyone with a list getting into the 20s was seriously impressive!

Some of the feedback we had included from the youngsters: ‘inspiring’, ‘awesome sauce’, ‘fun’, ‘nice smelly :)’, ‘calming’, ‘nature’ and ‘educational’. And the grown-ups were equally keen, saying: ‘welcoming’, ‘amazing’, ‘fun!’, ‘smelly’, ‘refreshing’, ‘informative’, ‘sensual connection’, ‘lovely assortment, very interesting’ and ‘forward thinking for a greener future’.
Thank you so much to all those who dropped by, smelt, sniffed, joined in, admired, took part and shared. All went to making a memorable day.
Here’s a round up of images from the day. Keep in touch to find out where the Herbal Takeover will be popping up next …
