Print with Tree Rings

Spend a half-day with artist & printmaker Charlie Ash to discover the seemingly possibilities of using natural materials to print incredibly detailed, eye-catching designs across a variety of media.

Tree rings make fantastic natural printing blocks, as they can be easily worked to reveal the concentric patterns formed by their yearly growth. Using locally sourced woods such as ash, beech and larch, we’ll be taking a close up look at the different grains of native tree species and learn how to prepare them into blocks by scorching and brushing the grain.
