SUMMARY:Tree Planting within Regenerative Land Management
DESCRIPTION:As awareness increases about the impact of intensive farming on soil quality\, flooding\, biodiversity and ecosystems\, farmers and others who manage large areas of land are turning to regenerative techniques. \nThis session for farmers and land managers will explore tree-planting within regenerative land management\, and will include a tour of Hammonds Farm with Eric Walters of Good Small Farms\, who will share learning about the benefits of planting trees. Ruth Powell from Stroud Valleys Project will also give input about how the charity is involved in ‘regen’ tree planting. \nThanks to Western Forest\, who are funding the event so it is free to attend for farmers and others who manage large areas of land. Light refreshments are included. There is a back-up date of Friday 6 February in the event of bad weather.

DESCRIPTION:As the earth begins to come out of its winter slumber come and wake up the apple trees at The Community Farm! \n  \nCome and gather around the fire\, to toast and bless the orchard trees\, and learn traditional Wassail songs with folk singer-songwriter Susanna Waters! \nThis year we are also being join by the brilliant Dear Wife\, the solo project of folk singer and songwriter Louise Essex from Hertfordshire. Her delicate vocals blended with dynamic acoustic guitar will accompany you as you make a fabulous Wassail crown and take part in a whole host of other brilliant natural crafts (or simply sit back and enjoy the atmosphere whilst sipping on your delicious cider!). \nWe’ll be serving up seasonal soups and gorgeous apple juice from our fields\, as well as homemade cakes and hot drinks. Remember to add a raffle ticket or two to your booking (they’ll also be available on the day)…prizes include lunch and breakfast at The Pig\, a cookery school voucher from The Pony and a voucher from Valley Arts plus lots more! \nAll our takings from this event help us nourish community and wildlife through food. Please give generously if you can. \n*Please note that this is an outdoor event so if we need to cancel due to the weather\, we will notify you by January 29th 2026. \n  \n  \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:Join us for our annual Charity Wassail\, where we’ll be singing\, dancing and drinking plenty of our award-winning cider. \nA Wassail is a traditional Somerset ceremony carried out to bless an orchard. It’s an ancient practise we keep alive here at the Farm\, complete with rituals involving tree roots\, shotguns\, and\, of course\, cider\, to ward off bad spirits and ensure a good harvest for the year to come. \nThere’ll be delicious hot food on sale all evening from our Cider Press Restaurant\, and two fully stocked bars. The Skimmity Hitchers will be performing for us\, playing their classic Scrumpy and Western music with a 21st Century twist. \nAs we celebrate all things cider on this winter’s night\, we’ll be raising money for Charity. \nTickets are limited and unfortunately\, they won’t be available on the night.
