SUMMARY:Tree Planting within Regenerative Land Management
DESCRIPTION:As awareness increases about the impact of intensive farming on soil quality\, flooding\, biodiversity and ecosystems\, farmers and others who manage large areas of land are turning to regenerative techniques. \nThis session for farmers and land managers will explore tree-planting within regenerative land management\, and will include a tour of Hammonds Farm with Eric Walters of Good Small Farms\, who will share learning about the benefits of planting trees. Ruth Powell from Stroud Valleys Project will also give input about how the charity is involved in ‘regen’ tree planting. \nThanks to Western Forest\, who are funding the event so it is free to attend for farmers and others who manage large areas of land. Light refreshments are included. There is a back-up date of Friday 6 February in the event of bad weather.

SUMMARY:Rich's Cider Farm Wassail
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our annual Charity Wassail\, where we’ll be singing\, dancing and drinking plenty of our award-winning cider. \nA Wassail is a traditional Somerset ceremony carried out to bless an orchard. It’s an ancient practise we keep alive here at the Farm\, complete with rituals involving tree roots\, shotguns\, and\, of course\, cider\, to ward off bad spirits and ensure a good harvest for the year to come. \nThere’ll be delicious hot food on sale all evening from our Cider Press Restaurant\, and two fully stocked bars. The Skimmity Hitchers will be performing for us\, playing their classic Scrumpy and Western music with a 21st Century twist. \nAs we celebrate all things cider on this winter’s night\, we’ll be raising money for Charity. \nTickets are limited and unfortunately\, they won’t be available on the night.

SUMMARY:Relax and Revive with QiGong
DESCRIPTION:Cheltenham \nMax Watkins \nDUE TO THE POPULARITY OF THIS CLASS\, DROP-INS CANNOT BE ACCOMMODATED. TO SECURE YOUR PLACE PLEASE BOOK IN ADVANCE. \nAn energy exercise class drawing from a variety of tai chi and qigong forms. \nBeginners will enjoy the benefits of gentle circular and flowing movements. Improving strength\, balance and coordination as well as calming the mind and nerves. \nImproving\, we develop the more subtle internal skills which greatly enhance the benefits of our practice. \nBreathing\, standing and movement. Whatever our healthcare goals our chi practices always leave us feeling refreshed\, recharged and balanced. \nAN ISBOURNE EVENT IN COLLABORATION WITH ITS AFFILIATED TUTOR \nMax has been teaching classes at The Isbourne since 2001. He is a qualified tai chi instructor with Taoist lineage holder Bruce Franczis Energy Arts School and enjoys sharing his many years’ experience in a fun and insightful way. \nMax was also Gloucestershire skateboarding champion in 1979 – a fact he had completely forgotten until he found the trophy in the bottom of a box in his dad’s garage\, ten years ago! \nOnline session available please follow the link: https://www.isbourne.org/events/online-release-relax-and-revive-with-qigong \nThese sessions will be streamed live through Zoom. Those participating in person will not be seen by those online. \nFor this class\, you will need to bring your own: \nRefreshments \nVENUE: THE ISBOURNE CENTRE\, 2 WOLSELEY TERRACE\, CHELTENHAM GL50 1TH \nWhy are there multiple price options? \nAs a wellbeing and educational charity\, The Isbourne aims to make its courses and workshops accessible to all regardless of income. We have researched how other organisations fund their courses and come up with a three tier pricing system: \nSupported rate: this fee is less than the Standard and allows anyone with financial challenges to still participate. You do not have to show proof\, this is offered on trust. This price is limited to one per transaction. \nStandard rate: this is how much we would like all participants to pay as it covers The Isbourne costs and supports the tutor.\nSponsor rate: this is a little more than the Standard fee and allows you to subsidise and support others who might not be able to pay the Standard fee. \nYou choose what tier of payment best suits you – no questions asked!

SUMMARY:Paperclay Lanterns Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Bring some light into your life with these beautiful translucent lanterns. Using versatile porcelain Paperclay ceramicist Emily Joy will show you how to create a variety of lantern shapes using paper-thin sections\, embossing and printing methods. Porcelain Paperclay is a truly exciting material which combines the qualities of porcelain but with added paper-fibre to allow increased malleability and to allow you to break the rules of working with normal clay. Once fired the porcelain lanterns will glow beautifully with a candle or electric lighting\, creating wonderful three-dimensional effects where objects and patterns have been pressed into the clay. \nAll the materials and tools are included.  Your lantern will be fired after the workshop and will be available to collect from Victoria Works Studios shortly afterwards.

SUMMARY:Elements: Interpreted in Glass
DESCRIPTION:Artists working in glass are inherently inspired by the elements\, and there are countless ways to interpret this. Whether we’re thinking about the world around us\, layering colours to create perspectives on the landscape or weather\, or the literal elements that make up everything around us\, combining metals to produce reactions in glass. Many of the artists featured here are kiln-workers\, whose kilns are heated by elements. Each artist was invited to explore their own interpretation of this theme\, which has produced a diverse collection of artworks\, each a beautiful extension of its artist’s creative style. \nFeaturing both local and international talent\, the artists hail from the UK\, the USA and Canada\, brought together for this special exhibition\, curated by artist and glass tutor Catherine Dunstan

SUMMARY:Herb Walk
DESCRIPTION:Join our monthly herb walk\, they take place on the first Saturday of every month in or around Cam and Dursley. \nJanuary’s Herb Walk will be at Breakheart Quarry\, do come and join us at 10am. \nBreakheart Quarry is at the top of Stinchcombe Hill. You can walk or drive there (plenty of parking space). We’ll meet by the picnic benches at 10am for an hour’s walk\, followed by herbal tea and a natter about how we’d like the herb walks to evolve over the coming year. You are very welcome to come for the walk\, the natter or both\, whatever suits you. \nRecommend wrapping up warm and wearing sturdy footwear. There are no big climbs along the walk\, but some uneven ground\, and it may be quite breezy. \nWe’ll certainly see plenty of lovely young birch trees\, our herb of the month for January featured in our blog\, but there could be many early season surprises along the way too. \nLook forward to seeing you there – 10am\, Breakheart Quarry picnic benches. \nTo find us using What3Words\, use: ///quietest.obscuring.samples \n\nTo learn more about herb walks\, take a look at this blog  \nAnd  you can read the monthly blogs for each herb walk we’ve done on the blog pages at www.CotswoldHerbCentre.uk \nThe location for the walk changes each month\, depending on what’s in season. To know where to meet\, check this listing a few days beforehand and we’ll have updated it with the meeting point and/or sign up for the Cotswold Herb Centre newsletter. It is sent out once a month giving the walk details\, and other herby news and info. You can sign up here.
